Purchasing and moving into a new house is equally exciting and stressful experience but doing so during a Pandemic and while welcoming a second child, and then a third, well that brings a whole new scenario into such journey.

A young couple with young children reached out to reDesign home seeking assistance with furnishing, decorating and a few space planning dilemma that needed solutions. The new home, sitting on a double lot in the Chicago neighborhood of Ravenswood featured an open concept layout, bright and light finishes but lacked personal touches and functionality for the growing family. reDesign home thoughtfully created a comfortable, beautiful space for the family and guests to grow into and enjoy while doing so. Included in the scope of project: space planning, new built walk-in pantry design, selecting additional finishes, creating a new lighting scheme, custom designing furniture, area rugs and window treatments, and styling the carefully curated collection of furniture and décor.

These repeat clients enlisted our help in remodeling and furnishing an apartment above their detached garage. We overhauled the kitchen and bathroom while updating the remaining spaces to highlight the architectural details. Inspired by a trip to the South of France, these clients enlisted our help to renovate the kitchen, pantry, mudroom, and laundry room of their older, character-filled home. Reimagining a choppy floor plan, we utilized careful space planning to create functional work rooms while opening up the kitchen and dining areas, adding both a cathedral ceiling and access to the side entry of the home. We used complimentary materials throughout each of the spaces yet maintained a unique character and identity in each through the introduction of bespoke details.

the homeowners have hired RDH | chicago to design their kitchen and powder room with the request to work within the existing square footage and windows , doors, opening location. The new design created a more efficient organization system and maximized flat surface for cooking and casual dining.
The original cottage style home was celebrated with the introduction of a light color palette with touches of deep blues, living finishes, simple lines and vintage finds.

The goal of this kitchen renovation: To design a gathering space made for entertaining. The original disproportionate scale of appliances and cabinetry, inadequate seating, lack of character, and clumsy floor plan were overcome with thoughtful reconfigurations. A large island, exquisite millwork, a beautiful built-in hood, and a separate butler’s pantry checked the boxes of balance, function, and character, resulting in a space ready for the creation of many wonderful memories.

A calming, neutral color palette and combined with timeless detailing elevated this Dutch Colonial remodel. Fully integrated appliances, minimal hardware, and exquisite, white, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry make the kitchen a moment to remember. The experience continues with unexpected details, including a gourmet espresso bar and a beautifully patinaed range hood and backsplash.

This charming 1920 English Cottage style home in the Chicago suburbs contained tons of potential, but needed updating to meet the needs of a modern family. While the original design felt dark and dated, we brightened everything up by introducing a new color palette coupled with a thoughtful lighting scheme and reworking the floorplan to increase access to natural light. The conversion of a sunroom into a kitchen at the back of the home, the introduction of a casual dining space, and the reconfiguration of the original formal dining room into a laundry and mudroom created the functionality that this home needed.

This gorgeous home built in 1900 and located in the heart of River Forest, a suburban village adjacent to Chicago, was more than ready to receive some tender love and care, bringing back its former glory in a way that served our clients’ modern lifestyle and aesthetic. By combining a timeless color palette and brass accents with the stunning architectural features and many original light fixtures, we were able to create a beautiful juxtaposition between the old and the new in these bathrooms.

On the surface, this 1928 bungalow-style home looked outdated and in need of a facelift, but upon walking through its doors for the first time, we immediately fell in love with the charming original details. Through careful space planning and thoughtful selection of furnishing and decor, we were able to highlight the original character and display cherished mementos while creating a more functional storage space for this family of four.
